iPhone Cracked Screen Repair Dubai: Costs for Every Model
iPhone cracked screen repair in Dubai starts from AED 149 for older LCD models and rises to AED 599 for iPhone 15 Pro Max OLED, with most repairs completed in 30 minutes at our Concord Tower workshop.

Why does iPhone screen crack so easily?
Modern iPhone screens are made from Ceramic Shield glass (iPhone 12 and later) or Ion-X glass (older models and SE), both engineered to resist surface scratches. Scratch resistance and drop resistance are different properties. Ceramic Shield is extremely hard, which means it transmits impact energy rather than absorbing it, and that energy fractures the glass when the phone lands face-down on a hard surface.
The physics are straightforward: a phone dropped from 1 metre onto tiled or marble flooring (common in Dubai homes) hits the surface at roughly 4.5 metres per second. The Ceramic Shield has a hardness close to sapphire, so it does not flex on impact. The OLED panel bonded underneath has almost no give either. The result is a crack that propagates from the point of contact across the glass in a spider-web pattern.
Older iPhones using LCD panels and Ion-X glass crack differently: the glass separates from the digitizer layer, sometimes leaving the LCD intact. OLED models from iPhone X onwards typically crack the glass and damage the OLED emitter layer simultaneously, which is why OLED replacements cost more than LCD replacements.
Step 1: Is it just the glass or the full OLED?
The first step after a drop is to determine what is actually broken. On iPhone X and later (all OLED models), the glass is fused directly to the OLED panel in a single laminated assembly. There is no economical way to replace only the outer glass without a specialist UV-bonding machine. Most independent workshops replace the entire assembly rather than delaminate and re-laminate, which keeps turnaround to 30 minutes instead of 3 hours.
On iPhone 8 and earlier (LCD models), the glass, digitizer, and LCD are sometimes sold as separate components. If the LCD still shows a clean image with no dark spots or bleed, and touch still responds, you may have a glass-only crack. A glass-only repair on LCD models can reduce cost by 30 to 40 percent compared to a full assembly.
- OLED models (iPhone X to 17): glass and display are one unit, full assembly replacement is standard practice.
- LCD models (iPhone 8, 7, 6s, SE 1st gen): glass-only repair is possible if the LCD is undamaged, but full assembly is faster and often similarly priced.
- Free diagnosis: bring your iPhone in and we inspect the panel under a polariser lamp before quoting anything.
Step 2: Can I use a cracked screen temporarily?
A minor hairline crack at the corner with no visible LCD damage and working touch is generally safe for short-term use, provided you cover it with a tempered glass screen protector immediately to prevent the crack from spreading. Without a protector, friction from a pocket or bag will widen the crack over days.
Spider-web cracks that cover a large portion of the screen or cracks that intersect the display area create a more serious risk: the exposed glass edges are sharp and can cut fingers, and fine glass particles can enter the USB-C or Lightning port when the phone flexes. If the OLED shows any dark patches, pink lines, or the touch stops responding in certain zones, continued use risks further internal damage as debris migrates under the display.
Our recommendation: apply a tempered glass protector on the day of the crack if repair is not immediate, and book the repair within a week. A protector costs AED 30 to 50 at any accessory shop and prevents the crack from propagating until you can bring the phone in.
Step 3: How do I know if touch still works?
Open the Notes app and try writing across the full screen surface, including the corners. A functioning digitizer responds uniformly. If certain zones do not register taps, or if the screen registers phantom touches (the cursor moves without you touching it), the digitizer layer is damaged. On OLED iPhones the digitizer is part of the display assembly, so a digitizer fault means a full screen replacement regardless of whether the glass looks intact.
Touch ID models (iPhone 8, SE series) have an additional check: press the Home button after a crack. If Touch ID fails repeatedly despite a clean fingerprint registration, the cable running between the Home button and the board may have been nicked during the impact, or the button itself may have shifted. This is a separate repair from the screen and can usually be diagnosed at the same time as the screen inspection.
- Phantom touches: digitizer is damaged, replacement needed regardless of glass condition.
- Dead zones in corners: usually the digitizer flex cable is pinched, full assembly replacement resolves this.
- Touch works fine: repair can be scheduled at your convenience rather than urgently.
Step 4: Does a screen protector prevent cracks?
A tempered glass screen protector rated 9H absorbs a significant portion of point-impact energy in a drop and can prevent glass cracks at drop heights below about 60 to 80 centimetres on most surfaces. At 1 metre or higher, or on hard tiled or concrete surfaces, the protector typically shatters but may absorb enough energy to keep the phone screen intact. It is not a guarantee, but it is the most cost-effective risk reduction available.
Nano-liquid coatings marketed as invisible screen protectors do not meaningfully reduce crack risk. They improve surface hydrophobicity (water-beading) but add no mechanical protection against drop impact. If a screen protector has already cracked in a recent drop, replace it immediately: the fractured protector provides zero protection for the next drop.
For iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, and 17 Pro models, cases with raised bezels above the screen plane add a further layer of protection by preventing the screen from contacting the floor directly in a face-down drop. A slim case with a 0.5 mm lip around the screen combined with a tempered glass protector is the most practical combination for daily use in Dubai.
Does Dubai heat make iPhone screens more fragile?
Dubai regularly reaches 35°C and above during summer months, with parked-car interiors exceeding 70°C on July afternoons. Apple specifies that iPhones should not be stored above 45°C. Repeated exposure to temperatures above this threshold causes the adhesive layer bonding the glass to the OLED panel to soften and degrade. Once the adhesive degrades, the laminated bond weakens, and a crack that would have remained small on a freshly manufactured screen can propagate more easily.
The OLED panel itself is also heat-sensitive. OLED organic emitter layers age faster at elevated temperatures, which can lead to yellowing or uneven luminance over time. A phone left in direct sunlight on a Dubai car dashboard for an hour at 35°C+ ambient (reaching 60 to 70°C inside the car) runs a real risk of premature display aging, not just adhesive degradation.
Practical advice: never leave an iPhone on a car dashboard in direct sunlight, keep it in a shaded bag when outdoors, and if the phone displays the overheating warning (a thermometer icon on screen), let it cool before charging. Screens replaced in our workshop use adhesive rated to 80°C to give the best long-term performance in UAE conditions.
LCD vs OLED repair: what is the difference?
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels use a backlight behind a liquid crystal layer to produce images. They are thicker, less vibrant, and use more battery, but they are significantly cheaper to manufacture and replace. iPhone 8, 7, 6s, 6, SE 1st generation, and SE 2nd generation all use LCD technology. A full LCD assembly for an iPhone 7 costs roughly AED 120 at the component level, making repairs affordable.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) panels produce light per pixel, enabling true blacks and higher contrast ratios. They are thinner and more power-efficient at typical brightness levels. Every iPhone from iPhone X onwards uses OLED, including the standard iPhone 11 Pro and later even the non-Pro models from iPhone 12 onwards. OLED assemblies cost 3 to 5 times more than LCD assemblies at the component level, which is the primary driver of higher repair prices.
- LCD models: iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, SE (1st gen), SE (2nd gen), iPhone 11 (standard).
- OLED models: iPhone X, XS, XS Max, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12 series onwards, SE (3rd gen uses LCD), iPhone 13 through 17 all series.
- Quality tiers for OLED replacement: aftermarket soft-OLED, aftermarket hard-OLED, and OEM-grade OLED salvaged from factory-refurbished units. We use OEM-grade or hard-OLED for all repairs and explain the tier before you confirm.

When is the board damaged beyond screen repair?
A screen replacement resolves the display and touch issue but cannot fix board-level damage caused by the impact. Signs that the drop may have caused additional damage include: the phone does not power on after the drop, the speaker produces no sound, Face ID stops working, or the cellular signal drops to zero. Each of these symptoms points to a different component that may have been dislodged or cracked on the logic board.
Face ID failure after a drop is particularly common on iPhone X through iPhone 14 Pro Max. The TrueDepth camera module contains a dot projector and flood illuminator calibrated to that specific logic board. If the module is physically undamaged but Face ID still fails after a screen replacement, the issue is almost certainly board-level and requires microsolder repair or module re-pairing, not a second screen replacement.
- No power after drop: could be battery connector dislodged, board crack near the PMIC, or screen connector damage. Diagnosis required before any repair quote.
- Face ID fails post-drop: TrueDepth module may be intact but board-level calibration data is lost. This is a separate repair from the screen.
- Cellular dead after drop: antenna cable is routed near the screen connector on most models. A severe impact can sever it. Board-level antenna repair is possible but adds to cost and turnaround.
- Data recovery first: if the phone does not power on and data matters, we prioritise data recovery before any board repair attempt.
Our free diagnosis covers all of the above scenarios. We will not quote a screen replacement and then discover additional damage after the fact. The technician checks power, cameras, speaker, and cellular before confirming the repair scope and price.
Frequently asked questions
- Spontaneous cracks, sometimes called pressure cracks, happen when internal stress builds up in the glass. This can be caused by a case that does not fit properly and creates a pinch point, or by a swelling battery pushing outward against the display. A swollen battery is a safety issue: if the screen looks lifted or the back of the phone is convex, stop using it and bring it in for inspection immediately.
- Yes, repeated exposure to temperatures above 45°C degrades the adhesive lamination between the glass and the OLED panel, weakening the bond and making future cracks more likely to propagate. Leaving an iPhone on a car dashboard in direct Dubai summer sun can push internal temperatures above 70°C, which also accelerates OLED emitter aging and can cause permanent yellowing or uneven brightness. Always keep your iPhone in a shaded bag or the cabin air conditioning when in Dubai summer conditions.
- Apple designs iPhone screens to last the full lifetime of the device, typically 4 to 5 years of normal use. OLED panels have a rated half-life of approximately 100,000 hours at normal brightness, which far exceeds typical device ownership periods. Screen failure from normal use is rare. The main failure mode is physical impact (cracks) or heat-related adhesive degradation rather than the panel wearing out.
- A screen replacement fixes the glass crack, the display, and the digitizer (touch layer) in a single operation because they are one laminated assembly on OLED models. Face ID hardware lives in the TrueDepth camera module above the screen, not in the screen itself. If Face ID worked before the crack and the module was not physically damaged in the drop, it will continue working after a screen replacement. If Face ID stopped working after the drop, that is a separate issue requiring its own diagnosis.
- Most iPhone screen replacements take 25 to 40 minutes at our Concord Tower workshop in Dubai Media City. We stock screens for all current models (iPhone X through iPhone 17 Pro Max) and common older models (iPhone 8, SE, 11, 12, 13, 14 series). For older or less common models we may need 24 hours to source the part. Same-day repair is available for the vast majority of models without pre-booking.
- Using a phone with a minor corner crack protected by a screen protector is low risk for short periods. A heavily spider-webbed screen or one with exposed sharp glass edges is not safe: the glass can cut fingers, glass particles can enter the ports and cause corrosion, and if the OLED is also cracked it may emit UV light unevenly in degraded zones. Do not charge a phone overnight with a severely cracked screen, as heat from charging combined with a compromised seal increases the risk of moisture ingress.
