MacBook Air M5 Battery Replacement Cost in the UAE: 13-inch and 15-inch
The MacBook Air M5 is thin and light, and that design has a cost when the battery eventually wears out. Here is what Apple lists in the UAE for the 13-inch and 15-inch models, how the job compares with the MacBook Pro and MacBook Neo, and when a replacement is actually due.

Key takeaways
- Apple lists AED 689 (13-inch) and AED 759 (15-inch) for MacBook Air M5 battery service in the UAE, excluding VAT.
- That sits between the MacBook Neo and the MacBook Pro: Apple lists AED 589 for the Neo, AED 879 for the 14-inch Pro and AED 959 for the 16-inch Pro.
- It is a more involved job than it looks. iFixit shows the battery held by stretch-release adhesive plus screws, with the logic board removed to reach it.
- The Air M5 went on sale on 11 March 2026, so every one is still inside Apple's one-year limited warranty until at least March 2027.
- Under warranty or on AppleCare+, Apple is usually the right first stop. Out of coverage, compare Apple's fee with an independent quote.
How much does Apple charge for a MacBook Air M5 battery in the UAE?
Apple lists MacBook Air M5 battery service at AED 689 for the 13-inch model and AED 759 for the 15-inch model, excluding VAT. We read both figures on Apple's UAE Mac laptop repair page on 26 September 2026.
Apple states that these estimates are for out-of-warranty service from Apple and are subject to VAT, and that authorised service providers set their own fees. Apple publishes only a battery price for Mac laptops; a screen or other damage needs an inspection first. Prices can change, so check the live figure before you book. For reference, Apple lists the machines themselves in the UAE at AED 4,599 (13-inch, Apple list) and AED 5,499 (15-inch, Apple list).
How does the MacBook Air M5 battery price compare with the MacBook Pro and MacBook Neo?
| Model | Apple battery service (excl. VAT) | Battery construction (iFixit) |
|---|---|---|
| MacBook Neo 13" | AED 589 (Apple list) | Tray held by 18 screws; 6/10 overall |
| MacBook Air 13" (M5) | AED 689 (Apple list) | Stretch-release adhesive plus screws; logic board out |
| MacBook Air 15" (M5) | AED 759 (Apple list) | Not covered separately in our sources |
| MacBook Pro 14" (M5) | AED 879 (Apple list) | Nearly every component out; 4/10 overall |
| MacBook Pro 14" (M5 Pro / M5 Max) | AED 879 (Apple list) | Not scored separately in our sources |
| MacBook Pro 16" (M5 Pro / M5 Max) | AED 959 (Apple list) | Not scored separately in our sources |
Apple does not explain its fees, but they line up with how much of each machine has to come apart to reach the battery. The MacBook Neo, with its screwed battery tray, has the lowest fee. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M5, where iFixit found battery replacement means removing nearly every component, sits near the top. The Air M5 is in the middle on both counts. Our MacBook Neo battery cost guide covers the Neo side of that comparison.
What does a MacBook Air M5 battery replacement actually involve?
iFixit's MacBook Air M5 device page sets out the construction. Four details shape the job:
- Pentalobe screws on the outside. The bottom case needs the right driver before anything else can happen.
- Stretch-release adhesive plus screws. The battery is held by both. Stretch-release strips come out cleanly when pulled correctly, but a strip that tears leaves the cell stuck, and prying a lithium cell is exactly what a technician wants to avoid.
- The logic board comes out. The board has to be removed to reach the battery, so the job includes disconnecting and refitting the board and its cables.
- RAM and SSD are soldered. Your storage lives on that board. Nothing about a battery swap should touch your data, but a backup before any repair is still the right habit.
None of this makes the job unusual for an experienced MacBook workshop. It does explain why it takes longer than a Neo battery, and why a careful shop will not quote the Air M5 as a quick swap.
Is my MacBook Air M5 battery still under warranty?
Almost certainly. Apple announced the MacBook Air M5 on 3 March 2026 and it went on sale on 11 March 2026, so every Air M5 is inside Apple's one-year limited warranty until at least March 2027. A battery that is genuinely failing at this age suggests a defect, and a defect on an undamaged machine belongs with Apple, where it should cost you nothing.
AppleCare+ extends that. Apple's AppleCare+ battery coverage threshold is 80%: on its UAE Mac laptop repair page, Apple says it will replace the battery for no extra charge if capacity drops below 80%. If you have it, that is where to go. The Apple fees above matter once your warranty and any plan have ended.
How do I know my MacBook Air M5 battery needs replacing?
- Check the status. System Settings, Battery, then the info button next to Battery Health. "Service Recommended" is the prompt to act; "Normal" means the battery is fine.
- Check maximum capacity. Shown in the same panel as a percentage of new. Falling capacity means shorter days away from a charger.
- Check the cycle count. Hold Option, click the Apple menu, open System Information and choose Power.
- Watch for shutdowns. An Air that powers off with charge still showing needs a proper battery test.
- Look for swelling. A stiff trackpad, a base that rocks on a flat desk or a gap along the case edge. Stop charging it and get it checked soon.
Two things are not battery faults. A Mac that pauses charging at 80% may simply be using Optimised Battery Charging, which macOS uses to reduce wear. And fast drain straight after a macOS update often settles once indexing finishes. Rule both out before you book.
What about older MacBook Air models?
Apple discontinued the MacBook Air M4 in March 2026, and there are many M1, M2, M3 and M4 Airs in use around Dubai. Their construction and Apple's fees differ by model, so we do not guess here. Our MacBook Air battery replacement page covers every generation, and MacBook battery replacement covers the MacBook Pro too. For the M5 specifically, see MacBook Air M5 battery replacement.
Should I use Apple or an independent workshop for an Air M5 battery?
- Under warranty, failing early: Apple. It is a defect question.
- AppleCare+ and capacity under 80%: Apple. That is Apple's AppleCare+ battery coverage threshold (support.apple.com).
- Out of warranty, no AppleCare+: compare Apple's published fee with an independent quote. Ask which cell is being fitted and what the warranty covers.
- Liquid damage, a charging fault, or you are not sure it is the battery: diagnosis first. These can look like a worn battery and are not fixed by a new one.
MacBook Repair Dubai is an independent Apple repair workshop in Concord Tower, Dubai Media City, not an Apple Authorised Service Provider. Our battery replacements carry a 3-month warranty with an 80% capacity guarantee (full terms on our warranty page), and we tell you before we start whether we are fitting a genuine or a quality alternative cell. - At Apple, yes. Apple lists AED 689 and AED 759 for the 13-inch and 15-inch Air M5, against AED 879 for the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 and AED 959 for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, all excluding VAT. The MacBook Neo is lower still at AED 589 (Apple list).
- According to iFixit's MacBook Air M5 device page, the battery is held by stretch-release adhesive plus screws, the logic board has to come out to reach it, and the case uses pentalobe screws. A torn adhesive strip can leave the cell stuck, so the job needs patience and the right tools.
- Very likely. The MacBook Air M5 went on sale on 11 March 2026, so every one is inside Apple's one-year limited warranty until at least March 2027. A battery defect on an undamaged machine should go to Apple.
