How much does Apple charge to replace a MacBook Neo battery in the UAE?

Apple lists MacBook Neo battery service at AED 589, excluding VAT, on its UAE support site. We read the figure on 26 September 2026. For Mac laptops, Apple publishes only a battery price; for a screen or other damage it says it needs to inspect the machine first.

Here is how the Neo sits against every current MacBook, from the same Apple page on the same date:

Apple states that its estimates are for out-of-warranty service from Apple and are subject to VAT, that authorised service providers set their own fees, and the figures can change at any time. Check the live price before you book. For context, Apple lists the Neo itself at AED 2,599 in the UAE.

Is a MacBook Neo battery covered by warranty or AppleCare+?

Apple announced the MacBook Neo on 4 March 2026 and it went on sale on 11 March 2026. That means no Neo is more than about six and a half months old, and every one is inside Apple's one-year limited warranty. A battery that is genuinely failing at this age points to a defect, and a defect on an undamaged machine should go to Apple, where it should cost you nothing.

AppleCare+ goes further. Apple's AppleCare+ battery coverage threshold is 80%: on its UAE Mac laptop repair page, Apple says it will replace the battery for no extra charge if capacity drops below 80%. AppleCare+ also covers accidental damage for a fixed fee.

So for the next few months, most Neo owners should not be paying anyone for a battery. The fee in the table matters later, once the warranty or plan has ended, or when the damage is not covered.

Why is the MacBook Neo battery easier to replace than other MacBooks?

When iFixit took the Neo apart it gave it 6/10 and called it the most repairable MacBook in 14 years. The battery is the main reason:

• A screwed-in tray. iFixit found the battery sits in a tray held by 18 screws.
• No parts-pairing warnings. iFixit found the display, trackpad, battery and Touch ID can be swapped without triggering parts-pairing warnings.
• Some things are still fixed. The 8GB of RAM and the storage are soldered, the case uses pentalobe screws, and the keyboard is replaceable but takes 41 screws.

Compare that with the rest of the lineup. On the MacBook Air M5, iFixit's device page shows the battery held by stretch-release adhesive plus screws, with the logic board coming out to reach it. An easier job does not make it a DIY job for everyone. Lithium cells are easily damaged by a slipped tool, and a swollen cell needs careful handling. But it does mean less time on the bench and less risk to the parts around the battery.

What are the signs a MacBook Neo battery needs replacing?

Check these before you book anything:

1. Battery Health status. Open System Settings, Battery, and click the info button next to Battery Health. "Normal" means the battery is fine. "Service Recommended" means it is worth a check.
2. Maximum capacity. The same panel shows maximum capacity as a percentage of new. The lower it falls, the shorter each charge lasts.
3. Cycle count. Hold Option, click the Apple menu, choose System Information, then Power. The cycle count tells you how hard the battery has worked.
4. Sudden shutdowns. A Neo that turns off with charge still showing, especially under load, is a classic sign of a worn or faulty cell.
5. Swelling. A trackpad that becomes stiff to click, a base that no longer sits flat, or a gap opening along the case. Stop using and charging it, and get it checked promptly.

Fast drain on its own is not always the battery. Owners' complaints about the Neo so far are mainly design limits, such as no keyboard backlight, no Touch ID on the base model and 8GB of soldered RAM, plus some external-display scaling issues. No widespread hardware defect has been reported, and Apple publishes troubleshooting guidance for Neo battery problems. Rule out a runaway app or a recent macOS update before assuming the cell is worn.

What changes an independent MacBook Neo battery quote?
