Can we upgrade the RAM or SSD?
No. Apple Silicon MacBooks (M1 through M5) have SoC-integrated RAM and a soldered SSD. The chip, RAM, and storage are one package on the logic board. Buy enough when you order - upgrading later is impossible.
The storage is encrypted and tied to the chip, so chip-off recovery is not possible. Getting data back from a failed machine means repairing the original logic board until it runs again - . More on data recovery →

- Switch it off straight away, unplug the charger (MagSafe or USB-C) and don't try to turn it on or charge it. - From time to time. Dust is drawn in through the vents and packs into the fan and heatsink, so the fan runs loud and the Mac slows down to keep cool. A fan clean with a thermal check fixes that - get a free quote online for today's price.
