Intel MacBook Air - the butterfly keyboard
Apple ran a Keyboard Service Program for 2015-2019 MacBook models with butterfly keyboards. That program has ended: Apple's support page for it now says so, and Apple no longer repairs these keyboards for free.
A failing butterfly keyboard needs a new top case. We diagnose it free, then do the top-case swap (typically 1 day) - for the exact price.
Parts availability for the Air 13 2018
Intel-era parts are still well-stocked in Dubai - screens, batteries, top-cases and ports are routine. Logic boards are sourced board-by-board. Screen 2 days. Battery same-day. Butterfly keyboard requires top-case swap (1 day). Turnaround for every other repair is in the table above.
Is the Air 13 2018 still worth repairing in 2026?
Be selective - battery yes, big jobs probably no
8 years old, Intel chip, no Apple Silicon performance. A battery replacement is almost always worth it. A screen plus keyboard combined can add up to more than a clean used M1 Air, so weigh it carefully - we'll show you the math at intake. Get a free quote for exact prices on your model.

FAQ
- Screen / display assembly replacement on the MacBook Air 13" Intel 2018 is priced per model and panel condition - get a free quote online for today's exact price. Typical timeline 2 days. Includes a 3-month written warranty on the panel and the labour.
- RAM and the SSD are both soldered to the logic board on the MacBook Air 13" Intel 2018, so the original spec is what you keep - neither is upgradeable. The SSD is encrypted by the T2 security chip, so chip-off recovery does not work: getting data back means getting the original logic board running again. Get a free quote online.
- No. Apple has ended its Keyboard Service Program for 2015-2019 butterfly keyboards, so a failing keyboard is an out-of-warranty repair. We do the top-case swap (typically 1 day) after a free diagnosis - get a free quote online for the exact price.
- Be selective - battery yes, big jobs probably no. 8 years old, Intel chip, no Apple Silicon performance. A battery replacement is almost always worth it. - Check System Settings > Battery > Battery Health: "Service Recommended" means the battery is worn, and System Information > Power shows the cycle count. - Switch it off straight away, unplug the USB-C charger and don't try to turn it on or charge it. Corrosion spreads across the logic board while it has power, and the SSD is soldered to that board, so protecting the board is also how your files are saved. On this model: trackpad cable failure after spills. Send us the details through the quote form, then bring it straight to our Media City workshop; liquid-damage work carries a 15-day warranty.
- From time to time. Dust is drawn in through the vents and packs into the fan and heatsink, so the fan runs loud and the Mac slows down to keep cool. A fan clean with a thermal check fixes that - get a free quote online for today's price.
