What makes the M2 Air screen different
The MacBook Air M2 (2022–2024) was the first Air to feature a Liquid Retina display with True Tone and P3 wide colour gamut. The 13-inch grew from 13.3 inches (M1) to 13.6 inches with a new notch design housing the FaceTime HD camera.
Liquid Retina on the M2 Air uses an IPS LCD backplane with local dimming — it is not OLED or mini-LED. This matters for repair: Liquid Retina panels require True Tone calibration data transfer to maintain True Tone function after replacement.
The 15-inch MacBook Air arrived with the M2 generation in 2023 — the first 15-inch Air ever. It uses a 2880x1864 Liquid Retina at the same 500 nit brightness as the 13-inch. Both sizes are stocked at MacBook Repair Dubai for same-day repair.
True Tone on the M2 Air reads ambient light via a sensor near the webcam and adjusts colour temperature automatically. An aftermarket screen without the calibration chip disables True Tone. Genuine Apple panels (available on request at an additional AED 150–200) keep True Tone fully active.

Horizontal or vertical lines on the display

True Tone disabled after a third-party repair
The M2 Air Liquid Retina has a True Tone calibration chip in the display assembly. A generic aftermarket panel does not have this chip, so macOS disables True Tone. At MacBook Repair Dubai we use A-grade panels that maintain full resolution and brightness, or genuine Apple panels that restore True Tone. Specify which you prefer on WhatsApp.
Screen flickering at low brightness or when dimming
Low-brightness flicker on M2 Air is a backlight PWM issue — the pulse-width modulation circuit that dims the backlight becomes visible. This is a screen assembly fault resolved by panel replacement at AED 600 or AED 650. Free diagnosis confirms.
Display cable fault at the hinge
The most common M2 Air screen issue at 2–3 years. The cable runs through a tight hinge and cracks after repeated flexing. Signs: flickering or lines that appear at certain lid angles. Cable is part of the Liquid Retina assembly — full panel replacement at AED 600 or AED 650.
Pink or green tint across the screen
A colour tint on M2 Air indicates a loose eDP connector at the logic board. We reseat the connector first — clears in about 25 percent of cases at no charge. If tint persists, the display cable or panel needs replacement.

- The M2 and M3 Air use the same Liquid Retina display specification (same resolution, same True Tone, same P3) but the screen assemblies are not interchangeable — different part numbers and slightly different cable routing. Repair cost is also different: M2 is AED 600/650 vs M3 at AED 700/750.
- Horizontal lines on an M2 Air screen are most commonly a display cable fault at the hinge, especially if the lines change position when you open or close the lid.
